Take this medicine in the dose and duration as advised by your doctor. Swallow it as a whole. Do not chew, crush or break it. Pantonix 20 Tablet is to be taken empty stomach.

How Pantonix 20 Tablet works?

Pantonix 20 Tablet is a proton pump inhibitor (PPI). It works by reducing the amount of acid in the stomach which in turn relieves acid-related indigestion and heartburn.

It is used to treat the following conditions in adults and children (aged 12 years or older and weight 35 kg or more):

Pharmacology

Pantoprazole is a proton pump inhibitor that covalently binds to the H + / K + ATPase enzyme system on the surface of gastric parietal cells to impede the final stage of gastric acid generation. This action inhibits both basal and induced stomach acid output, regardless of whether the stimulus lasts more than 24 hours.

Dosage & Administrations of Pantonix 20mg Tablet

Oral:

• Benign Gastric ulcer: 40 mg daily in the morning for 4 weeks, continued for 4 weeks if not fully healed.
• Gastro-esophageal reflux disease: 20-40 mg daily in the morning for 4 weeks, continued for 4 weeks if not fully healed; maintenance dose is 20 mg daily, which may be increased to 40 mg daily.
• Duodenal ulcer: 40 mg daily in the morning for 2 weeks, continued for 2 weeks if not fully healed.
• Duodenal ulcer associated with Helicobacter pylori: Pantoprazole is recommended at a dose of 40 mg twice daily in association with antimicrobial agents as detailed below: Amoxycillin 1 g and Clarithromycin 500 mg both twice daily for one week, or Clarithromycin 250 mg and Metronidazole 400 mg both twice daily for one week.
• Prophylaxis of NSAID-associated gastric or duodenal ulcer: 20 mg daily for those requiring long-term NSAID treatment.
• Zollinger-Ellison Syndrome: Initially 80 mg once daily adjusted according to response (elderly max. 40 mg daily); daily doses above 80 mg given in 2 divided doses.

Interaction

No significant drug interactions have been observed in clinical studies.

Contraindications

Pantonix 20 mg is not recommended for those who have a known hypersensitivity to any of the formulation's ingredients.

Pregnancy & Lactation

Pantoprazole's pregnancy category in the United States is B. However, there are no adequate and well-controlled ponders in pregnant women. Because animal reproduction ponders are not always accurate predictors of human response, this sedative should be used as needed during pregnancy. Pentatonix 20 mg seems to be excreted in the human brain.
